windows 7 update failed with error 80246008 and BITS disappear from services.msc

09 Apr

today is updating day! but my Windows 7 update make me unhappy.

check OS find below information:

1 windows update continue failed while I tried 2 times with error 80246008. ( a little boiling)

2 Services.msc find WSU service is running while BITS service is disappeared.

So the first thing is recover BITS service. Running:

 C:\Windows\system32> sc create BITS binpath= “c:\windows\system32\svchost.exe -k
 netsvcs” start= delayed-auto
[SC] CreateService SUCCESS

then go to service.msc start bits service manually.

try windows update again, everything is working.

    HI xunyangit

I have the same issue with thid diffirence that I can see the BITS under services, but it dont want to start. when I try to start it manuall get this:

Some services stop if they dont have nothing to do.

Any idea why we cant start the BITS?

please try to re-build the bits service by using “sc delete bits” and re-create it.

you might need to copy the file from other working OS then create the services.
